Well, the site has been up for almost a year already ( September the 29th it will be a year). I haven’t done as much as I wanted to when it comes to modifications on the site or in posting articles, yet I feel that it has been a useful tool to get information out about chess in the area.

I hope this year to be a bit more productive and finally talk some other local players to contribute some articles, games, etc to the site. I have renewed the domain name, so barring any unforeseen circumstances, I hope we will be around for many years to come.

So please, if you have any news, tournaments or anything else you feel would benefit local chess or is about chess in the area, please let me know. Remember, this site is geared to chess in the area in general, is not dedicated to any particular club or group and welcomes your participation.

Thank you for continuing to visit and I look forward to continuing the chess journey with all of you.

I thought I would list a couple of updates I’m putting on the site. As I have mentioned before, if you have any suggestions or comments feel free to share them.

I have added a gallery feature. I haven’t fully went through the options available, so some things might change off-and-on over the next week. If you have images you would like to have posted let me know and I’ll get you an e-mail address to get them to me.

Also, I haven’t fully made a decision but I’m thinking about placing some ads that would be related to chess. I have created an affiliate with Amazon and currently plan on including links in reviews back to the product being reviewed. I have a review on an older book almost ready to go. Just doing some additional editing and it should be up soon.

My plan is to use any proceeds from any ads, if there are any, to help out with the club in whatever way they might help. I can’t say for sure what to expect from that front. I don’t plan on putting up too many things that will distract from the site, but hope that it might be of benefit.

Daily Chess Puzzles

I added a chess puzzle from Shredder Chess. It can be reached from the link at the top of the page, from the right side of the site, in the Pages section, or from this link. I started to put it in the right column but the size of the puzzle was a bit big for there. Seems like a good resource. Hope you like it.

Submissions

I’m hoping this site can become a good resource for local chess players. To that end, the site welcomes submissions of original articles, commentary, annotated (or not) games from local players, and upcoming tournaments.

Suggestions are also welcome. If you see something that you would like to see added, removed or supplemented then let me know.

Configuration

I’m in the process of configuring the site and looking at options for it. It might take a while to get everything up and running like I want. At this point my plan is to replace the header, post up some upcoming local tournaments, and get links to some chess oriented sites.

Once I have the basics down I’ll look at expanding what is available.
