[ February 12, 2011; 5:00 am; ] On February 12th, the Joplin Chess Club held its 1st tournament of the year. Luckily the weather cooperated, mostly, with warmer temperatures melting most of the snow and ice on the roads.

[ January 22, 2011; 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. ] This last Saturday (January 22th, 2011), 7 members of the Joplin Chess club traveled to Springfield to play a club versus club quick tournament (G/29). Thomas Jefferson Scholastic Open Update

[ October 18, 2008; 10:00 am; ] This past weekend Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School held their scholastic tournament. 22 students from MO, AR, and OK played in three divisions. Joplin Chess club members James Smith placed 1st in the 7-8 division and Jonah Smith placed 1st in the K-6 division.
