For those of you in Kansas or willing to drive to Pittsburg, there is a new club in operation that meets on Sundays. Go give them a like and until the club in Joplin gets back to normal, it may be an option for some OTB locally. ![]()

We had a lower than hoped for turnout for the 2021 Four States Winter Open with 6 participating players, 3 in each section. Rori Li finished the event and Open section undefeated with 3.5 points. Henry Heil finished 1st in the U1400 with 2.0. Event should be rated shortly and prizes will go out this week.![]()

Went to Hardee's a week ago and at that time it is looking like it may be at least until April before we can start meeting there again. Though, keep an eye out since Joplin has eased restrictions on in person dining, so that may change moving forward. If anyone sees an update before we do, pass that along. It was suggested by a member meeting at a coffee house, but the one with the most seating may not always have sufficient space, so doesn't look like a good option.![]()

We are finalizing details on the 2021 Missouri State University Open as an OTB, socially distanced event. Attendance will be capped at 60 players and we are going to have a guaranteed prized fund. We hopefully will have all details early this week.![]()

Finally, we received a thank you card from the Joplin Public Library Children's department for the support of and donation to that department and its chess club. Pictures will be included below.![]()
