Southwest Missouri Diehards’ Winter Open
Here is the next Joplin event. The SWMO Diehards’ were a group of Joplin players in the late-60’s early 70’s. At least one event was held at the Connor Hotel in Joplin, in October 1968. This event is being sponsored by one of the original members of the club and USCF affiliate at the time.

Format: 4 round Swiss, Game in 60 with 5 second delay (G/60,d/5), dual rated

One 1/2 point bye available if requested before the beginning of round 2
Round Times: 9:30, 11:45, 2:30, 4:45
Entry fee: $30 if registered by 1/13, $40 at site. Scholastic (K-12), play for rating only, $15 if registered by 1/13, $20 at site. MCA membership required for MO residents; available on-site.
Prizes: $540 prize fund guaranteed.
- Open: $200, $150, $100, $50; U1400: $ 40; UNR play for Open prizes
Registration: Advance Registration requested. Entry fees may be paid in cash in person on on-site, or checks (payable to Martin Stahl) can be mailed, to be received by 1/13/2017. Preference that all players must be current USCF 1/14/2017. USCF membership can be processed online at uschess.org and membership can be accepted on site for CASH ONLY.
