Joplin Benefit Tournament
Here is the second tournament of the year for the Joplin Chess Club. This will be a new one for us; our first two-day event and the first tournament to benefit a charity.
Thanks to the support of an anonymous donor, we will be able to donate 100% of entry fees to the Joplin Habitat for Humanity to support building for tornado impacted families. Please come out and join us for a couple of days of chess and to support a great organization.

Format: 5 round Swiss, Game in 90 with 5 second delay (G/90,d/5)
Two sections; Open and Under 1600. Sections may be combined for pairing purposes.
One 1/2 point bye available if requested before the beginning of round 3
6 Grand Prix points in Open section
Round Times: Saturday 10:00, 1:30, 5:00. Sunday 10:00, 1:30
Entry fee: $40 if pre-registered, $50 at site. MCA membership required for MO residents; available on-site.
Prizes: $490 prize fund guaranteed.
- Open: $150, $100, $60
- U1600: $80, $60, $40
Registration: Advance Registration requested. Entry fees may be paid in cash in person on 4/28/2012, or checks (payable to Martin Stahl) can be mailed, to be received by 4/27/2012. Preference that all players must be current USCF members by 4/28/2012 and current through 4/29/2012. USCF membership can be processed online at uschess.org and membership can be accepted on site for CASH ONLY. I’m still planning on writing a results post but I’ll put out that the benefit raised $1,300 for Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity. I hope to have something more substantial posted this week.
