Joplin Chess

Lamar Middle School hosted their annual chess tournament on Saturday, October 11.  Several schools from SE Kansas participated and also Carl Junction.  Fifth grade homeschooler, Jonah Smith, went undefeated in the K-8th grade division, winning all six of his games and was awarded the first place trophy.  Third grade homeschooler, Julia Smith, won four out of six games in the K-8th division and was awarded the first place trophy for K-3rd grade.  Approximately 65 students participated.
