I don’t have all the details at this point but there will be two tournaments held in Springfield in November, ran by Michael Clark.

[ October 18, 2008; 10:00 am; ] This past weekend Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School held their scholastic tournament. 22 students from MO, AR, and OK played in three divisions. Joplin Chess club members James Smith placed 1st in the 7-8 division and Jonah Smith placed 1st in the K-6 division.

Lamar Scholastic October 2008
Lamar Middle School hosted their annual chess tournament on Saturday, October 11. Several schools from SE Kansas participated and also Carl Junction.
